What is it that makes Chameleon diamonds such a phenomenon?
The fact that these are color changing diamonds, which change their hues after being heated, or when taken out from a dark place and exposed to light.
These rare color diamonds are classified in three main color intensities: Fancy Light, Fancy, Fancy Dark and Fancy Deep. The end color, the dominant color, can be either Green, or Yellow, and the sub-colors, the shades, can be a combination of one or more of the following: Grey/Grayish, Brown/Brownish, Yellow/Yellowish, and Green/Greenish.
After the heating process, these diamonds change drastically to a yellowish/orange color with an olive hue.
Hence the name " Chameleon," like the lizard.
The Chameleon effect is caused by the hydrogen which is present in the diamond's structure.
When looking at rare diamonds for sale, consider a Chameleon, because these rare colored diamonds are really a collector's item.
