If there was one big fashion trend on the runway of the 79th annual academy awards, the 2007 Oscars - bejeweled dresses it was. Some of the dazzling ladies participating in the ceremony didn't need to worry about their jewelry at all - their gowns came prt-a-bejeweled, carrying the perfect balance of glam and glitz.
Among the celebrities wearing these gowns were Cate Blanchett, who was poured into a heavily beaded and bejeweled gray Giorgio Armani prive gown, accompanied by diamond wing earrings with black diamond drops. Jennifer Lopez' dress followed the big diamond trend the most. Her dress was gray with huge lines of big diamonds, cut off at the empire waist with another diamond line. The gown was accompanied by a 20 carat grey and champagne diamond earrings with peach rose-cut diamond drops.
Big diamonds and jewels were seen throughout the night. Major diamond trends at this year’s awards included cuffs and stackable bracelets. The look of Cameron Diaz shined with big jeweled earrings, diamond bracelets and a stone ring. Gwyneth Paltrow followed the trend of big diamond jewels with earrings, bracelets and stoned rings.
Jsut like every year, a considerable amount of attention was given to color diamond jewelry. Jennifer Hudson wore a 1960s diamond necklace with a 32-carat yellow diamond pendant and a brown diamond right-hand ring by Fred Leighton. Kate Winslet came with a 50 carat yellow diamond bracelet, 54 carat pear-shaped yellow diamond cluster earrings, a 17 carat yellow-green diamond right-hand ring and two yellow and white diamond brooches by Chopard. Penelope Cruz also shined with a yellow and white diamond flower bracelet, 20 carat diamond cluster earrings and a yellow diamond right hand ring.
Indeed, the 2007 Oscars was a night to remember, and this year's special edition of fancy diamonds in new and original alongside classic jewelry designs certainly had a lot to contribute to it.
