The 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards was recently held and once again the big winner was fancy color diamonds.

Rumor has it that the red carpet is soon to be renamed the black carpet given the preponderance of black diamonds on those treading upon it.

Whether it was Gwyneth Paltrow’s or Julie Bowen’s black diamond earrings, or Lea Michele’s black diamond ring, the celebrity appetite for black diamonds is apparently insatiable. The setting of choice for these diamonds, platinum, was the other big winner of the night.

Better not forget that Gwyneth also managed a 50 carat black diamond cuff bracelet to match her earrings.

That is not to say that black was the only color of diamond to be seen on the red carpet. Elisabeth Moss looked stylish in her Lorraine Schwartz bronze champagne diamond earrings, while Cat Deeley was adorned with a 20 carat, platinum and yellow Bulgari diamond.

Accompanying her other diamond accessories, Jayma Mays also wore a 5 carat blush colored diamond and platinum ring.

In conclusion, the black diamond trend shows no sign of abating, however, perennial favorites – yellow, pink and brown - are not being ignored. The beauty of fancy color diamonds is that no matter the color of the dress or the seasonal color trend, there is always a stone to match.
