Fancy Diamonds at the 2007 Oscars

If there was one big fashion trend on the runway at the 79th Annual Academy Awards (2007 Oscars) - bejeweled dresses was it. Some of the beautiful women participating in the ceremony didn't need to worry about their jewelry at all  - their gowns came partially bejeweled, carrying the perfect balance of glam and glitz.

Among the celebrities wearing these gowns were Cate Blanchett, who was poured into a heavily beaded and bejeweled gray Giorgio Armani prive gown, accompanied by diamond wing earrings with black diamond drops. Jennifer Lopezs' dress was the most notable to follow the big diamond trend. A shade of gray, with huge lines of diamonds cut off at the empire waist by another diamond line, the gown was accompanied by a 20 carat grey diamond and champagne diamond earrings with peach rose-cut diamond drops.

Big diamonds and jewels were seen throughout the night. Major diamond trends at this year’s awards included cuffs and stackable bracelets. Cameron Diaz  shone, with big jeweled earrings, diamond bracelets and a stone ring. Gwyneth Paltrow followed the trend of big diamond jewels with earrings, bracelets and stone rings.

As with every year, a considerable amount of attention was given to color diamond jewelry. Jennifer Hudson wore a 1960's diamond necklace with a 32-carat yellow diamond pendant and a brown diamond right-hand ring by Fred Leighton. Kate Winslet arrived showing off a 50 carat yellow diamond bracelet, 54 carat pear-shaped yellow diamond cluster earrings, a 17 carat yellow-green diamond right-hand ring and two yellow and white diamond brooches by Chopard. Penelope Cruz boasted a yellow and white diamond flower bracelet, 20 carat diamond cluster earrings and a yellow diamond right hand ring.

Indeed, the 2007 Oscars was a night to remember, and this year's special edition of fancy diamonds in new and original forms, alongside classic jewelry designs, certainly had a lot to contribute to it.
