As the old saying goes, “The proof of the pudding is in the eating.” And no matter how many times it is stated or performed, there seems to be no doubt about it - the perfect way to prove your love or celebrate a special moment in one’s life, is with diamonds.

There's no need telling that to jewellery designer Adam Shulman, who played his part in designing the traditional diamond engagement ring he presented to his new fiancée Anne Hathaway. The 6-carat, platinum and diamond ring was said to cost in the vicinity of $150,000, and was the center of attention in a dinner gala held at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, in honor for actress Meryl Streep who received a lifetime of contribution award.

Not to be outdone, though, is Ben Affleck. He has been together with Jennifer Garner for seven years – an eternity for a Hollywood couple. What's his secret? "He knows when to swoop in with the gesture. He's sweet that way," Garner says. "Honestly, I would do anything for that man, because I know it's not taken for granted."

So how does Affleck swoop in with a gesture? Well for one, he's a strong believer in the power of diamonds and the magic effect they have on a relationship. He recently showered Garner with a pair of pink and white diamond Harry Winston bands, one for each of their two daughters: Violet, aged 6, and Seraphine, who is almost 3 years old.
